The Idol Archives is a new podcast set to cast an ear back to when Australian Idol was in its pomp, producing stars and hits season after season.

The new pod comes from former judge Mark Holden, who teams up with daughter Katie to chat about their memories, in this behind-the-scenes look at the reality show giant.

The Holdens will be joined by a slew of former Idol contestants to chat about their experiences, with one joining each week to reminisce and give some goss behind how it all went down.

Anthony Callea, Axel Whitehead, Natalie Gauci, Cosima De Vito, Damien Leith, and more will join the pod.

“I’m loving catching up with the Idols. Every single one of them has a story to tell and music to share,” Mark Holden said.

“Being produced by my daughter Katie who is also my co-pilot on the podcast is a joy – we both love Idol. Love and touchdowns, Mark.”

The stories explored include the security breach at the Opera House during the final between Anthony Callea and Casey Donovan, Damien Leith’s struggle to earn a cent from his first album, Tarisai Vushe’s story about Dicko being racist on the show, and Axl Whitehead on what happened at the 2006 ARIA afterparty.

“Making this podcast with Dad has been a bit of fun escapism during these crazy times, especially while living in LA and being away from home,” Katie Holden said.

“Nothing sounds better right now than reliving the early 2000’s! I was eight years old when Australian Idol began and it was such a monumental part of my childhood that inspired me to work in the television industry.”

Australian Idol was on television screens between 2003 and 2009 and was one of the highest rating TV shows of the decade.

Episode 1 with Anthony Callea drops on October 9 via Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
