Just one day after Hack’s Tom Tilley announced his departure from triple j, longtime faves Linda Marigliano and Gen Fricker are also set to bid the station farewell.

For more than 10 years, triple j Mornings presenter Linda Marigliano has served as one of the most beloved presenters on the station. Having started out on the triple j Lunch and Drive shifts with Scott Dooley, her return to the station in 2012 helped perfect the format of the revered Good Nights program.

Having switched out to Mornings last year, we’ve continued to see Linda serve as one of the most trusted and knowledgable voices on the station, having covered events such as Splendour In The Grass, One Night Stand, and the Hottest 100.

Now, Linda will be continuing her work on ABC TV as of next year, following on from stunning achievements made as part of The Set in recent times.

“I feel overwhelmed with joy and genuine love for this station that has been my family for so many years,” she explained in a statement. “It’s more than music, it’s a real connection with the people around us.

“It’s an identity that we are lucky enough to be a part of with every single show, with every record that excites us and with every listener that calls up, shares stories and makes me laugh like a maniac because they feel like my best friend.

“Thank you for having me. It’s been f**king beautiful.”

However, the farewells don’t end there, with the great Gen Fricker also set to wave goodbye to the station and its listeners later this year, with plans to focus on her comedy career.

Beginning at triple j as a solo presenter five years ago, Gen found herself teaming up with Kyran Wheatley on Weekend Arvos, before moving over to the triple j Lunch slot.

Since then, we’ve seen her spearhead the party-starting Friday Mix, team up with Lewis Hobba on triple j Drive, and even dish out that classic dog-themed cover of Charli XCX’s ‘Boys’.

“I’m honoured to have spent the last five years talking absolute garbage with some of my best friends, favourite artists, and the greatest listeners in the world,” Gen explained.

“It breaks my heart to leave, but I will be forever grateful for the chance to be a (small) part of such an iconic institution. To everyone who’s tuned in, texted or just enjoyed my general dickheadedry: thank you.”

The departures of Linda Marigliano and Gen Fricker follow on from Tom Tilley’s exit yesterday, and come just weeks after Breakfast hosts Ben Harvey and Liam Stapleton revealed they would be heading home to Adelaide to host the Nova 919 breakfast program.

triple j are set to announce their 2020 presenter lineup tomorrow.
