L D R U to perform with Carmada at Splendour with a spinal cord injury

Drew Carmody – one half of Sydney electronic duo Carmada – will perform on the Mix Up stage at Splendour In The Grass with a spinal cord injury.

Arriving back from a surf trip in the Mentawais just days before their appearance at SITG, Carmody complained of a sore neck after being hit by a wave.

After his doctor advised him to go to the hospital, Carmody was told he has a haemorrhage between C3 and C4.

Their management spokesperson told TMN: “Drew’s put in an amazing effort. Considering he was rushed to hospital as recently as Tuesday with a surfing injury, we’re unbelievably grateful to have received the all clear for him to perform tomorrow night.

“This stage show is by far the biggest project both boys have worked on, and fortunately the setback earlier this week won’t hold us back from showing Splendour what Max and Drew have been working so hard on.”

During the duo’s rehearsal at Carriageworks yesterday, Carmody was in good spirits about their performance.

The Carmada project is comprised of dance producers Carmody, who also performs under L D R U, and Max Armata aka Yahtzel.

Saturday’s performance – billed as ‘Carmada by L D R U and Yahtzel’ – will be the first and only time they will perform a live showcase of the three individual projects.

Catch them on Saturday evening at 6.15pm at the Mix Up stage.

Stay tuned as TMN goes behind the scenes with Carmada to Splendour In The Grass.
