Kobalt Signs Kita Alexander to Worldwide Publishing Deal

Kita Alexander is the latest signing to Kobalt, the international, independent music publisher.

Through the new arrangement, announced today (April 9), Kobalt is Alexander’s exclusive music publishing representative on a worldwide basis.

“I’m so excited to announce that I have just now signed my first ever publishing deal,” says Alexander in a statement issued Tuesday. “I have been waiting the last almost 10 years for the right team to represent my music. When I met with Kobalt and really understood their founding virtues it instantly made me want to join with them. I am so excited for this new adventure and cannot wait to see what Kobalt can do to try and help me further my career.”

Both parties sign on the dotted line following the release of Alexander’s debut full-length album Young In Love, which dropped last month through Warner Music Australia.

Spanning ten tracks, the LP lassos the talents of country star Morgan Evans (“Date Night”) and British indie artist Laurel on “All Night” — a “pretty-as-a-picture pop nugget” is how Rolling Stone AU/NZ describes it.

“Kita is an exceptional songwriter who draws on deeply personal experiences to write broadly relatable and timeless songs,” comments Briese Abbott, Kobalt Music’s head of creative services AU/NZ.

“Having already had success in dance and country collaborations, she’s evidence that when the songwriting is strong, there is no need for an artist to be bound by genre. We are very pleased to be a part of her team as she enters this critical next phase of her career.”

Alexander’s career is guided by Elise Naismith at Lemon Tree Music, through a worldwide management arrangement.

With 13 global offices, including an Australia affiliate, led by Sydney-based managing director APAC Simon Moor, Kobalt serves over 700,000 songs and represents over 40% of the top 100 songs and albums in the U.S. and the U.K., according to the company.

Hailing from Byron Bay, Alexander’s catalogue has racked up 240 million streams, including the two-times platinum single “Hotel,” and platinum-accredited cuts “Between You & I” and “Atmosphere,” a collaboration with FISHER.

Alexander is currently on the road, supporting her new LP. Next up, a date at Perth’s Rosemount Hotel this Friday, April 12.
