Jungle Giants unveil Song of the Year plaque at Queensland Music Awards

The Jungle Giants have unveiled the plaque commemorating their Song of the Year win at last year’s Queensland Music Awards.

The band won the coveted award for their track ‘Heavy Hearted’, joining previous winners Amy Shark, Violent Soho, Cub Sport and Ball Park Music, among others. The plaque is currently situated in the Fortitude Valley Mall and was unveiled prior to the awards ceremony that took place yesterday.

“It’s an absolute honour to be receiving a Song of the Year plaque for ‘Heavy Hearted’ at the Queensland Music Awards,” said lead vocalist Sam Hales.

“I grew up looking at these things and wouldn’t have believed I’d have one one day. Mum’s gonna flip.”

The Song of the Year plaques sit alongside the Valley Walk of Fame, which recognises some of Queensland’s biggest names in music, such as Powderfinger, The Bee Gees, Savage Garden, The Go-Betweens and more.

Winners at the 2021 QMAs include Miiesha, Sycco, Ball Park Music, Amy Shark, Keith Urban and Jaguar Jonze. More than 700 people attended the sold-out event.
