About the role
The Program Manager role sits within the Audio & Language Content (ALC) division of SBS and leads a team of Executive Producers to plan and manage the production, implementation, and distribution of distinctive, innovative multi-platform content. ALC’s68 language services deliver news, information, and entertainment to the 4.87m people in Australia who speak a language other than English at home. The Program Manager is a senior leadership role in ALC, reporting to the Network Manager, and manages a program group of individual language services.
This is a permanent full-time position, that can be based in either our Melbourne or Sydney locations.
The core responsibilities of the role are:
- Managing the production of audio & online content production & delivery in line with audience needs and editorial requirements
- Collaborating and developing content, community engagement, business and resourcing strategies
- Coaching and mentoring Executive Producers and Producers providing effective leadership.
The successful candidate will have a passion for SBS’s charter and purpose, and ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities is a must. We’re looking for people coming with:
- Extensive journalist and radio experience in a multi-platform and delivery environment
- Demonstrated experience in managing a team, preferably in a broadcast environment
- Be fluent in written and spoken English.
