Our client The Community Broadcasting Association Australia (CBAA) champions community broadcasting, which is a vital part of the Australian media landscape. The 450+ radio services broadcasting across Australia to over 5 million people each week play an important role in providing a voice for communities that aren’t adequately serviced by other broadcasting sectors, such as ethnic, Indigenous and other minority groups, as well as for independent local music.

The CBAA was born in 1974 from a desire to champion the sector by building those stations’ capability and creating a healthy environment for them to thrive. The CBAA is an internationally recognised not-for-profit organisation and represents over 90% of the sectors stations as members.

New opportunity
They now have a fantastic newly created opportunity which will report to the CEO and serve on the Executive team. In this role you will oversee the Program Managers and will set the strategic direction for the portfolio as a whole – ensuring that collectively, the programs contribute to moving broader organisational objectives forward.

You will lead, manage, and mentor a team (currently 14) across multiple initiatives and be a key decision-maker on organisational direction and effectiveness. You will provide value by identifying new opportunities, deciding how to improve existing programs and optimising resource allocations. You will work in partnership with the Technical Consultant to deliver successful outcomes.

The Head of Program Delivery will provide strategic leadership across the CBAA’s portfolio of programs and will oversee the Managers of the Digital Radio Project, The Australian Music Radio Airplay Project (Amrap), the Community Radio Network, National Radio News and the Online Services initiatives.

Your accountabilities:
Provide overall strategic and thought leadership across design, development, planning and budgeting, setting out resources, systems and capabilities.
Evaluate the current & anticipated portfolio requirements to meet successful program outcomes
Drive end-to-end delivery of all programs ensuring risks to program delivery are identified and mitigation actions implemented & managed.
People management across multiple program teams, providing leadership and developing a culture of collaboration.
Stakeholder management with internal and external contacts, including community radio stations, the CBF, Government (state and federal) and partners across the corporate, academic, and not-for-profit sectors.
Provide advice, guidance and recommendation to the CEO and Executive team and concepts, and approaches (including methodology, scope, slack, critical path, etc) to stakeholders.

You and your essential skills:
This role requires someone with strong project and stakeholder management experience who can take the lead, assess operational outcomes, recommend and implement new ways of working and process improvements to drive innovation and enhance performance across the multiple program areas.
Previously demonstrated experience in a senior role managing projects within a broadcasting or similar environment
Media/ broadcast knowledge including media regulations and policy
Demonstrated ability to champion and drive projects
Experience overseeing budgets across multiple areas
Superior problem-solving skills including the ability to identify risk and implement solutions
High level interpersonal and relationship building skills
Superior analytical skills and track record of accurate reporting
Excellent influencing skills
Results-focused and ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
High levels of personal drive and energy
Ability to provide and maintain quality service and always portray a professional image on behalf of the organisation and commit to their leadership competencies.
