Music Victoria and streaming platform Inverse announce VR performance fund

Music Victoria and the Victorian Music Development Office have teamed up with virtual reality streaming platform Inverse to establish a new creators fund for VR music performances.

Inverse is an Australian VR company which enables performing artists, venues and organisers to hold events that would otherwise be inaccessible by audience members. The platform was launched by Ignition Immersive CEO Darren Vukasinovic during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Music VR Backers Fund will support a handful of Victorian artists to perform from Inverse’s new VR-ready venue in Melbourne, with the ability to virtually connect with fans and create a new revenue stream.

Applications for the fund open in mid-January, with each expression of interest judged by a panel of leading industry figures. The selected artists will go on to create a unique performance that will be viewed by fans through Inverse’s VR and 2D streaming platform.

The fund follows a previous investment made by Inverse in November to create VR performances for 17 Australian artists.

Interested artists can be notified of when applications open via this form.
