Hunter TAFE’s Regional Music Institute (RMI) has joined forces with one of Australia’s most iconic recording facilities, The Grove Studios, to offer a boutique Sound Production course delivered on-‐ location in the Central Coast hinterland, providing one of the most unique creative learning environments in the country.
Students will learn in a working studio where some of the world’s leading artists are recording on a daily basis. The Diploma of Sound Production is a hands-‐on 9-‐month Diploma, designed to provide practical industry based learning using the latest technology and taught by professionals with decades of experience.
Located less than an hour north of Sydney’s CBD and starting on July 13, RMI’s Diploma of Sound Production offers a new and unique delivery of this highly sought after program, unlike any other on offer. To find out more, an Open Day is being held at The Grove Studios (Mangrove Rd, Somersby) on Saturday May 16.
Scott Horscroft, The Grove Studios owner and Head Producer said, “Since taking ownership of The Grove Studios I have wanted to be able to share this unique space with the community. Working with RMI provides a great opportunity to help educate the students and we can’t wait to begin.”
Hunter TAFE Teacher and music industry legend, Grant Walmsley said RMI’s partnership with The Grove has enabled the two to provide students with a holistic music training program.
“We are excited to join forces with The Grove Studios to deliver a program that provides students with state-‐of-‐the-‐art facilities, exposure to a community of established professionals and a wide range of internship and career opportunities that will help them build successful careers in the music industry,” said Mr Walmsley.
“The open day is a great way for students, parents and the community to not only explore the fantastic facility, but to attend live recording sessions, get hands on with latest recording equipment and find out more about enrolling in the Diploma of Sound Production,” he said.
The Grove Studios is a state-‐of-‐the-‐art, writing, recording, mixing and mastering studio and is a creative hub for musicians, engineers and producers from around the globe including artists such as Daniel Johns, Sarah Blasko, Birds of Tokyo and Alison Wonderland.
