How CMC Rocks influenced country radio this week

Some of country music’s best took the stage last week at the annual CMC Rocks festival in Queensland.

Among those names were international acts Florida Georgia Line, Luke Combs and Thomas Rhett, as well as local stars Troy Cassar-Daley, Kasey Chambers and Aleyce Simmonds.

The four-day event inspired an influx of country radio airplay for many of these artists, as seen on the latest TMN Country Airplay Chart.

Florida Georgia Line — who played additional headline shows in Cairns, Sydney and Melbourne — rose up the chart to #32 with their latest cut ‘Talk You Out Of It’.

The duo also re-entered the chart on Morgan Wallen’s crowd favourite ‘Up Down’ (#46) as a result of Triple M Country and 98.9FM reinstating the track to the playlist.

2012 smash hit and former TMN country chart-topper ‘Cruise’ was also revived on multiple playlists this week.

Luke Combs’ ‘Beautiful Crazy’ continued at #2 on the chart albeit closing the gap on Maren Morris’ ‘GIRL’. Combs received extra spins from CMC and Hot Country, while KIX and iHeartRadio Country continued their support.

‘She Got The Best of Me’ (#4 peak) had a resurgence, gleaning 33 total spins this week after dropping off all contributor playlists over the past month.

Perhaps the biggest swing was seen with Rocks’ lineup-leaders Thomas Rhett and LOCASH.

Rhett climbed 24 frames to #18 with ‘Look What God Gave Her’. The Big Machine act — who also supported FGL on their Can’t Say I Ain’t Country Tour — now holds two singles in the Top 20 (‘Sixteen’, #7).

98.9FM added Rhett’s new song with CMC and Triple M Country boosting spins.

LOCASH’s ‘Feels Like A Party’ finally broke the Top 10 at #5 this week. It’s the group’s highest ever position on the airplay chart thanks to a 15% increase in spins across Australian country radio.
