Hottest 100 sets new record with almost 2.8m votes

The eagerly anticipated triple j Hottest 100 sets new record with almost 2.8 million votes.

The official figure is 2,758,584 votes for the 2018 Hottest 100, overtaking last year’s figure by 370,000, or a jump of almost 15%.

Further statistics supplied by triple j:

* The most common age of voters was 18 years old

* More than 60% of voters were aged 24 and under

* Around 80% of voters were under 30

* Once again, more women than men voted this year (53% female, 45% male, 2% Non-binary/Other/No answer)

* Local votes came from NSW 29%, VIC 23%, QLD 19%, WA 10%, SA 8%, ACT & TAS both 3% and NT 1%

* At 5%, overseas votes nearly doubled from last year

The Hottest Countdown begins at midday (AEDT) on Sunday, January 27, accused by radio, digital, app and social media.

It will be replayed on Sunday, February 3.

Monday, January 28 sees triple j unveil the Hottest 200 from 10 am and Classic Hottest 100 of 1998 on Double J at noon.
