Good Morning sign publishing deal with Sub Pop
Melbourne indie duo Good Morning have signed with the publishing division of legendary Seattle indie label Sub Pop.
Comprised of Liam Parsons and Stefan Blair, the group join the likes of RVG, Shabazz Palaces and Mudhoney on the publishing imprint ahead of the October release of their new record Barnyard.
The new record will be released globally by Polyvinyl and distributed in Australia through the band’s own Good Morning Music Company Worldwide, courtesy of Virgin Music Australia.
The group is also managed domestically by Our Golden Friend.
Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Liam Parsons said that signing with Sub Pop Publishing was a natural move for the group, expressing his confidence in its management of the band’s catalogue.
“We’re so happy to be working with Sub Pop publishing going forward,” Parsons said.
“Over the course of several Zooms and even a few rounds of beers in Seattle, Gareth and the crew have proven themselves to be kind, enthusiastic music lovers and we’re thrilled to know that our lil’ songs are in safe hands.”
Gareth Smith, vice president/general manager of Sub Pop Publishing, welcomed Good Morning to the label’s publishing roster.
“We love Good Morning and we couldn’t be more stoked to be working with them,” Smith said.
To coincide with their signing, Good Morning have also offered a taste of the new album through new single ‘Country’, which is accompanied by a music video directed by Aidan McDonald.
