Gizmodo’s Rae Johnston heads to Junkee as editor

Multi-award winning journalist and TV presenter Rae Johnston takes over as editor of youth culture site Junkee on September 12.

She has been helming Allure Media’s Gizmodo for the past ten months.

The host of Static Podcast and co-host of That Start Up Show alongside Benjamin Law, the Wiradjuri woman’s passion for Indigenous science sees her also in the host’s chair at NITV’s children’s series Rewired.

Before Gizmodo, Johnston’s radio and TV work included SBS Viceland’s The Feed and NITV’s current affairs program The Point.

Junkee managing editor Rob Stott, to whom Johnston reports, says, “Rae has a proven ability to create stories that will really resonate with Junkee’s audience, and her expertise in science, tech and gaming presents a great opportunity for us to expand our content offering.”

Johnston said she was looking forward to delivering her interest in tech, gaming and science.

“It was always going to take something special to drag me away from Gizmodo,” she said.

Johnston replaces Katie Cunningham who is leaving the company.
