FastForward unleashes huge speaker and keynote program

Late last year, it was announced that FastForward – the global music business conference, would return to Sydney.

Held over two days at University of Technology (UTS), last year’s event was dubbed a “firehouse of information.”

This morning, TIO can reveal the conference’s stacked program. This year’s program has been curated by Vanessa Picken (Digital Agency), Comes With Fries, and Chris Carey (CEO, Media Insight Consulting), and will bring together leading music industry thinkers from Australia and abroad.

Speakers from all corners of the globe have been secured for the conference’s 2019 incarnation. Entertainment and technology company ParadeALL‘s Taka Suzuki will be here representing Japan. Dee Speed, Design Director at Google, will come from the USA.

Australian speakers include Rachel Maria Cox (Sad Grrrls Club), Shelley Bishop (Studios 301), Luke Girgis (The Brag Media), and Dean Ormston (APRA AMCOS).

The following panels have also been unleashed:

  • What does the future label look like?
  • Holding attention: The Importance of User Experience
  • The art and importance of influencing government policy
  • Are niches the future of music festivals?
  • Exploring key trends in the European music industry
  • We need to talk about playlists!
  • No holds barred: a candid panel on the future of the music industry

Several 15 minute specialist topic Keynotes will also be presented as part of FastFifteen, and will cover topics including voice recognition, Messenger bots, classical music, and community building around artists.

Heidi Lenffer (Cloud Control) is presenting a keynote, and comments, “I’m proud to be part of the movement of artists shifting gears on climate action,”

She adds, “I’ve been working on a serious upgrade for touring practice that meets the challenges of this current era head on, and I’m excited to present it at future-oriented conference Fast Forward.”

FastForward CEO Chris Carey commented, “Having APRA on board again – and hosting drinks on the Thursday night – is a real endorsment of the event overall,”

Carey added, “Following a thoroughly enjoyable debut in April 2018 I’m excited to be bringing FastForward back to Australia in April.”

In total FastForward will host 40 speakers across 2 days, incorporating 4 keynotes, 7 panels, and 11 mini Keynote sessions. The event goes down from 11-12 April.
