Fairgrounds 2016 promises a return to the relaxed country surrounds, welcoming atmosphere and careful curation that made last year such a runaway success. It also opens a brand new chapter, introducing music to opening night: Friday 2 December.
Following what seemed a prophetic screening of Searching for Sugar Man in 2015, the team at Fairgrounds are absolutely thrilled to welcome the enigmatic Rodriguez to play the expanded Fridaynight, alongside savage rock firebrands The Drones and the prolific kings of modern day psychedelia,King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.
The journey continues on Saturday 3 December with a full day of world-class music. Swedish folk troubadour The Tallest Man on Earth will perform with his full band for the first ever time in Australia, Canadian duo Japandroids will ignite a blaze of rock ’n roll glory, Angel Olsen will pierce hearts andJagwar Ma will share their monolithic acid pop. The inimitable Sarah Blasko will also be gracing Berry’s humble soil, alongside alluring up-and-comer Julia Jacklin, soulful crooner Son Little, DIY punks Sheer Mag, Tennessee’s stunning Julien Baker as well as the critically revered Big Scary.
The event will also feature an expanded kid’s area, the wildly popular Record Fair and a vastly multiplied array of local delicious food vendors that bring all the tastes of the South Coast.
