Fairfax Radio Brisbane GM Anthony Frangi axed

Fairfax Radio Brisbane GM Anthony Frangi axed

One of the 18 staff also made redundant at Fairfax Radio’s Brisbane ops included its GM,Anthony Frangi.

With over 20 years under his belt in senior management roles across Australia, Frangi joined the Fairfax Radio Network stations in 2012. By 2013 he took over as GM of the two Brisbane stations.

In 2014 Frangi appointedSteve Kyteas the new Program Director, and together they set about turning 4BC on its head with a renewed focus and talent line-up that included Brisbane On-Air legend Ian Skippen joining Loretta Ryan on Breakfast, Seven’s Patrick Condren on Mornings, Claire Blake and another Seven talent Ben Davis on Drive.

Frangi and Kyte always knew they were in for a tough, long road to turn the station around and while the talent was still bedding in and no real inroads made in the last few surveys, the new network has virtually swept the board clean with the only two local shifts remaining.

Like the programming, the stations management will also be centralised out of Sydney.

Radio Today understands that Frangi was not the only General Manager to lose his position within the Fairfax Network. Both the Sydney and Melbourne positions were also made redundant.

Since the news has gone public Frangi has already been approached by other media groups.

4BC Program DirectorSteve Kyte, is also exiting the station.

Kyte has worked in both radio, television and online for 25 years in both the United Kingdom and Australia. Steven is credited with helping launch BBC 5 Live, London's LBC 97.3, as well as transforming ABC 774 in Melbourne.
