The Industry Observer can exclusively reveal that Select Music booker Katie Rynne is moving into a new role at Village Sounds.

Rynne has worked with domestic booking agency Select Music for 8 years. Rynne has worked across a portfolio of artists including The Preatures, Montaigne, Japanese Wallpaper, LANKS, and Ziggy Alberts. Rynne’s recent highlights at Select Music include booking a mostly sold out tour for Alberts, including a sold out show at Festival Hall.

As of this morning, Rynne will work within the Village Sounds team. She’ll be part of a group which represents key domestic artists DMA’s, Courtney Barnett, and Violent Soho; as well as global hit-maker Vance Joy, and darling pop group Cub Sport.

In a TIO exclusive, Village Sounds’ General Manager Andy Gumley stated, “Katie is one of the most well respected agents in the country. Her knowledge and modern approach to breaking acts is something we have always admired.”

He continues, “The live landscape is forever changing and agencies need to evolve with it… bringing in current modern day minds like Katie is a big part of that and something we are really excited about. Gumley adds, “Katie joining our team is a huge asset for our current roster and future artists to come.”

Rynne is looking forward to being part of such a forward-thinking and industry-leading organisation. Village Sounds Agency is part of a broader Secret Sounds group which operates Splendour In The Grass, and touring festival Falls Festival.

Rynne comments, “After spending eight years with my incredible friends & colleagues at Select Music, I am very excited at the prospect of a new chapter in my career.”

Rynne’s relationship with the Village Sounds team has been a long-time coming. “Over the years I have always worked closely with the team at Village Sounds and really respect them as people and as agents. I identify strongly with their ethos, and have watched Andy & Evan build an amazing roster.”

She continues, “I am also hugely looking forward to being part of the wider Secret Sounds Group – as a young woman entering a very male driven part of the music industry, I have always looked up to Jess Ducrou (Co-CEO, Secret Sounds Group) as one of the leading female figures in the industry, and hope to continue that legacy for young people interested in becoming booking agents.”
