Exclusive: Country music label Social Family Records & Market the Music ink new artist development & distro
With pending changes to country label Maven, artist management and marketing consultancy Market the Music has entered into a new deal with the boutique independent record label, Social Family Records.
Social Family Records says the agreement will see the label provide a platform for Market the Music’s artist development program, led by managing director, Perrin Finlay-Brown.
Both organisations are known for their support of emerging country music artists. Social Family Records has released records by Amber Lawrence, Troy Kemp, Jason Owen, Gretta Ziller, with albums slated fromAndrew Swift, Matt Scullion and The Buckleys.
“Social Family Records is excited to be working with Market the Music. Perrin and the artists he works with are hard-working and dedicated, with their eye on the ball,” label manager Nardia Drayton tells TMN.
“Together we can continue supporting, developing and nurturing their careers – it’s a great fit.”
After a solid 3-year partnership with Sony Music-distributed imprint Maven, the new deal will see Market the Music move licensing allegiance and distribution over to Social Family Records for future releases.
Artists who have already made a move include Hayley Jensen (pictured), Liam Kennedy-Clark, Amy Nelson and The Dungarees. According to a label spokesperson, Social Family Record will, in weeks to come, announce further signings under the partnership.
“Giving our emerging artists the best possible chance to succeed in such a competitive market is our number one priority, and having a label behind us is key,” Finlay-Brown tells TMN.
“With Maven shifting their business focus, we have been very fortunate to find a new partner whose values are so closely aligned with ours. It is a wonderful fit moving forward.”
Social Family Records is distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Universal Music Australia (physical) and worldwide by The Orchard (digital) and SoulFood/Amped (physical) in Europe and the U.S.
