SBS and production partner Blink TV have revealed Vanessa Amorosi and Casey Donovan as the first two artists for Eurovision – Australia Decides 2020.

Hosted on the Gold Coast at the end of summer, they will each perform an original song for their chance to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in the Netherlands.

Amorosi’s song choice will be from her new album Back To Love, which dropped Friday (November 8).

“I am so incredibly excited to be part of Eurovision – Australia Decides 2020.

“I am a proud Aussie and to have the opportunity to sing one of my songs on a huge international stage representing Australia would be unforgettable.

“I look forward to Australia hearing my song and working alongside friends and fellow musicians on this journey. It’s going to be very special.”

Donovan, who became the youngest ever winner of Australian Idol in 2004 at the age of 16, went on to make her mark as a musician and a media presenter, and on stage and screen.

“When I was asked I thought, what an amazing thing to be a part of!

“It doesn’t matter what happens for me, ‘Proud’ is such an incredible song written by the talented Justine Eltakchi and I’m proud to sing it.

“I can’t wait to share the stage with some of Australia’s most talented singers. And I mean Vanessa Amorosi… She’s my idol! I love her!”

Donovan is currently starring in the hit musical Chicago.

Hosted by comedian Joel Creasey and music buff Myf Warhurst, Australia Decides will be staged at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on February 7 and 8.

It is presented in association with the Queensland Government via Tourism and Events Queensland, the City of Gold Coast, Screen Queensland and new partner Moroccanoil.

This year, 298,000 viewers tuned in to watch the broadcast and see Kate Miller-Heidke win, and Electric Fields take second place.
