Bringing Sydney’s electronic music community together for its fifth year isElectronic Music Conference 2016, to be held from Monday November 28 – Friday December 2 at Sydney’s prestigious Ivy Complex. Today joining some of the world’s most renowned names in the electronic music industry, including Mirik Milan (Amsterdam’s Night Mayor),Martin Phillips(Bionic League),Patrick Donovan(Music Victoria) andRaj Chaudhuri(Boiler Room), EMC announces the first lineup of speakers for the EMC Academy program. Tailored to students, emerging and entry-level artists, or those considering a career in electronic music, the Academy program will run across two days during EMC, and feature a series of master classes, run by a number of Australia’s leading producers and artists, as well as panels and discussions between high profile Australian artists and the hard working teams around them. Back for his third year as host of the EMC Academy program is Medium Rare Recording’s Co-Director Tom Piper. This year EMC changes the master class format, and for the first time in 2016, attendees will see some of Australia’s leading producers collaborating to build two tracks (one each day) from scratch. Master class sessions will focus on developing techniques and tips for the creation of drums, bass/synths, effects/harmonies and mixing and mastering. The artists and producers leading the master class sessions, include the likes of award-winning songwriter and producer Elizabeth Rose, the two halves of OWSLA approved Carmada – L D R U and Yahtzel, alongside Shock One, KLP, Paces, Dom Dolla and many more. The panel and discussion component will see insight into the teamwork behind some of Australia’s most successful artists of 2016 – covering topics such as songwriting and managing release cycles for mid to high tier artists, alongside accounting workshops and more. Joining the discussions include some of Australia’s best managers, A&Rs, marketing and publicity representatives, such as head of etcetc, Aden Mullens, Ministry of Sound’s Anna Fitzgerald, Ben Robinson of Falcona, Select Music’s Joel Siviour, Milly Petriella of APRA AMCOS and Monique Rothstein of Positive Feedback. With more names to be announced, the full Academy lineup and conference program will be revealed on October 12, and contributes towards over 150 speakers anticipated to appear at EMC, alongside EMCPlay and the inthemix Awards. EMC Academy tickets are available for one day or both day options and start from as low as $99 for Early Bird tickets, which endmidnightWednesday September 28. Tickets include not only the Academy sessions, but also the EMC keynotes each morning in the ivy ballroom. |
