Sync Watch: Dune Rats cover ‘Deck The Halls’ for KFC Christmas in July TVC
Gold Coast punks Dune Rats have recorded a cover of a Christmas carol classic to soundtrack a new advertising campaign from KFC.
The band’s cover of ‘Deck The Halls’ will play alongside a television commercial for the fast-food chain’s Christmas in July campaign, celebrating a new meal deal and a limited-edition ‘Tis The Seasoning’ merchandise capsule.
Dune Rats vocalist and guitarist Danny Beus said that the band was ‘stoked’ to be soundtracking the new advertising campaign.
“We’re stoked to be working on this song with KFC bringing music, television and a bit of fried chicken together,” Beus said.
“We hope our fans love our spin on the all-time classic Chrissy tune ‘Deck the Halls’ and can have a boogie this Christmas in July. Cheers KFC.”
KFC’s chief marketing officer, Kristi Woolrych, said there’s no better excuse for Aussies to connect with their mates than Christmas in July.
“To give Aussies the cozy Christmas only the Northern hemisphere indulges in each December, we’re bringing everything our fans need to enjoy it to the full this July. From the limited-edition festive jumpers you couldn’t rock mid-summer to our very own Christmas in July Feast (with free delivery on the KFC App, may I add), and a twist on a classic Christmas song to get you singing along, we’ve well and truly stuffed stockings full with goodies to help bring the joy this winter,” she said.
Previous Australian artists to soundtrack KFC TVCs include Melbourne funk ensemble Cookin’ On 3 Burners and dance music producer Dom Dolla.
