British singer-songwriter Dua Lipa has claimed the title of Australian radio’s #1 song for the first time in her career.

2019 release ‘Don’t Start Now’ rose just one spot on the TMN Hot 100 Airplay Chart powered by Radio Monitor this week, but it was enough to clinch the title, hitting a 28th charting week in the process.

Dua Lipa has a fantastic record at Australian radio, without ever submitting the Aussie airplay chart.

2015’s ‘Be The One’, 2017’s ‘New Rules’ and 2018 Calvin Harris collab ‘One Kiss’ all peaked on the podium at #3, while ‘IDGAF’ went one better after its 2017 release, landing at #2 on the chart.

New single ‘Physical’ was also backed in heavily by Aussie radio this week, with high spin counts across major metro networks helping the track to a debut at #16, making Dua Lipa the only artist to hold two songs within the Top 20.

Other charting news this week comes with The Weeknd cracking the Top 5 with ‘Blinding Lights’.

Radio spins have increased after the track spent racked up a second week atop the ARIA Singles Chart.

Other debuts came this week from Taylor Swift’s ‘The Man’ (#30), Dolly Parton’s ‘9 To 5’ (#53), Torren Foot’s ‘More Life’ (#55) and Doja Cat’s ‘Say So’ (#56).

Meanwhile, Lewis Capaldi’s ‘Someone You Loved’ (#22 after 47 weeks) and Drax Project’s ‘Woke Up Late’ (#54 after 48 weeks) and ‘Sucker’ by Jonas Brothers (#77 after 49 weeks) are all closing in on spending a full calendar year on the Hot 100.
