Downtown signs The Teskey Brothers, “a musical oasis in a terrain of bubblegum pop”

Downtown Music Publishing has signed The Teskey Brothers to a global deal outside Australia.

One of the bright export-ready sparks in recent years, the blues-soul 20-somethings made waves at this year’s South By Southwest and The Great Escape along with their own headline shows in Los Angeles, New York City and Boston, and two shows in California with Los Lobos.

The Motown-mad Melbourne outfit, which also played Japan, will after a New Zealand tour this year return to Australia to record their second album.

It will follow up Half Mile Harvest which won an AIR nomination. for best independent blues & roots album.

Commenting on the signing Sam Teskey said, “We’re so happy to be teaming up with Downtown Music Publishing.

“The four of us in The Teskey Brothers all love writing songs and we’re all really excited about getting them out into the world with the help of this passionate bunch of legends”.

Daniel Lloyd Jones, Downtown’s senior vice president of Global Creative Services and head of UK A&R, commented,

This news follows the group’s recent signing to Mushroom Music Publishing & Ivy League in Australia and Glassnote Records for other territories.
