DMA’S sign two international record deals
PRESS RELEASE:
Having stormed on to the scene less than a year ago with their debut single ‘Delete’, Newtown’s DMA’s have enjoyed a flurry of praise from not only critics and punters in their homeland but around the world and today it is with great pleasure that we can announce Newtown’s DMA’s have inked deals with Mom+Pop Records (North America) and Infectious Records (ROW outside of NA/AU/NZ).
Having signed a worldwide deal with I OH YOU in late 2013, DMA’s dropped their self-titled debut EP in March 2014 and have since found a place in the hearts of many around the world as their guitar driven tunes have spread across airwaves and online. Whether it be Dave Rowntree from Blur big-upping the lads on UK radio station XFM, Zane Lowe naming them his ‘next hype’ feature on BBC1, NME Magazine awarding them their ‘buzz band of the week’, Australian radio stations supporting numerous singles or playing to packed venues and festival tents around the world, it’s fair to say that Johnny Took, Tommy O’Dell and Matt Mason (the three friends who make up DMA’s) are certainly off to a nice start.
Having recently turned heads at New York’s CMJ Conference, the friends have been announced on a handful of America’s most prestigious music festivals including Bonnaroo, Governor’s Ball and Boston Calling + many more to be announced soon. However, it wasn’t just festival bookers who’s ears pricked up and we now couldn’t be more thrilled to announce the band’s newly signed partnerships with iconic UK label Infectious Records (alt-j, The Temper Trap) and the widely respected New York based label Mom+Pop Records (Wavves, Sleigh Bells, FIDLAR, Flume), both of whom will be joining the worldwide team for DMA’s and releasing forthcoming material in their respective territories.

Leon Rogovoy of Falcona Management said, “We’re very pleased and excited to be signing international label deals with Infectious and Mom + Pop. Musically & culturally, just like with I OH YOU, they are the perfect fit for DMA’s –and we can’t wait to see what the future has in store.”
I OH YOU Founder Johann Ponniah said, "It's been an incredibly exciting first 12 months for DMA's and we couldn't be more excited to see what the future holds for the band. It has been a real pleasure to see kids in Australia embrace the self produced recordings that the band have delivered themselves from Johnny's bedroom and we are looking forward to now sharing those songs (and more) with punters around the world. It's a great feeling to know that we will be able to develop the band further internationally with our new partners Infectious and Mom+Pop, who we are huge fans of not only as record labels but people in general."
Infectious Music Founder Korda Marshall said, “DMA’s are one of the most exciting new alternative rock bands I’ve heard in years. They had their pick of labels and I am delighted they chose us. I look forward to working with the band and their management. With I OH YOU and Mom+Pop, this is a real independent dream team.”
Mom+Pop Founder Michael Goldstone said, “"We’ve been huge fans of DMA’s even before Julia (Willinger) released the single “Laced” via ourimprint, Mermaid Avenue. After seeing them live last fall, it took us all of about one song into their set to aggressively pursue them for the US. It’s rare to find a band this gifted and talented. We are obviously thrilled to be the US partner of a world-widedream team for DMA’s with I OH YOU and Infectious. At Mom + Pop, we’re fortunate and wildly inspired to do our part and contribute to their worldwide success.”
Aside from these great new strides being taken internationally, DMA’s were also last week announced on the fantastic Groovin The Moo 2015 line up and managed to secure a spot in the triple j Hottest 100 with their debut single ‘Delete’ landing in the top 50!
With this exciting news now announced, DMA’s are continuing to work on their debut full length, which they are once again self-producing (and will be dropping in the back half of 2015). There’s plenty more exciting news to drop before that though, this is very much just the beginning.
