Delta Goodrem, Guy Sebastian and Jess Mauboy Listed Among Top Influential Aussies on Social Media

Delta Goodrem, Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Jai Waetford, DJ Tigerlilly, Tones and I, Will Sparks and Hugh Jackman are among the most influential Australians on social media, according to a new ranking.

The Mediaweek Social Media Influence 100 said it drew a distinction being an “influencer” and those “with influence”.

“The Social Media Influence 100 outlines the top 100 Australians with influence across all social media platforms,” the publication said. “It’s important to note this is not a list of Australia’s top influencers, but rather a list of who has the most influence on the Australian public on social media,” it added. The rules and criteria for the ranking can be found here.

Actor and performer Hugh Jackman topped the entire list, with Mediaweek and data partner Meltwater giving him an influence score of 99.

The ranking said he had 80 million followers across social media, with a reach of 8.7 million. On Twitter and Instagram, his engagement rate was listed as 0.12%, while on Facebook it was 0.15%.

Delta Goodrem, meanwhile, was the highest-placed full-time musician, coming in at No. 7 on the list.

Her influence score was also 99, off the back of 1.8 million followers and a reach of 543,600. Her Twitter engagement rate was said to be 0.06%, while Facebook was 0.22% and Instagram 1.53%.

Guy Sebastian came in at No. 21 with an overall influence score of 98. Mediaweek and Meltwater said he had 2.1 million followers, a reach of 451,600, and engagement rates of 0.03% (Twitter), 0.05% (YouTube) and 1.55% (Instagram).

Jess Mauboy also had a score of 98, but placed at No. 24.

Singer-songwriter Jai Waetford also made the list at No. 25, as did DJ Tigerlilly (No. 52), Tones and I (No. 79), and Will Sparks (No. 93).

In addition to the social media ranking, Mediaweek hosted its Next of the Best Awards on Friday night.

Poppy Reid, The Brag Media’s editor-in-chief, took home Bronze Award in the Publishing category.

The Next of the Best Awards aim to acknowledge the most exciting talent under the age of 40 in the media and marketing industries.
