Confidence Man go full ‘TILT’ with special press conference: Exclusive

With a new record deal, and a fresh album on the way, Confidence Man have the swagger of a group strapped to a rocket.

Going up, fast.

Today, the electro-pop outfit’s Janet Planet and Sugar Bones strike a new deal that’s not like any other deal, one that makes them the “new brand ambassadors” for TILT.

The vocal pair led a press conference to announce the partnership that’s about the art. And the stuff that folds.

“Don’t look so shook, it was only a matter of time before we sold out,” Confidence Man say in a statement, shared exclusively with TIO. “Throw money at us and you know we won’t throw it back. TILT, it feels like a different thing.”

As announcements go, it’s sort of a big deal.

TILT is a mega-multinational, a sprawling brand that makes all manner of products, from cereal to condoms, soft drinks, perfumes and meds.

Never heard of it? Like Confidence Man’s producer bandmates Clarence McGuffie and Reggie Goodchild, it’s always there, but rarely seen.

In a presser issued by Confidence Man’s new label I Oh You, TILT CEO Taylor Logan says, “We couldn’t think of a more perfect group to represent this new chapter of TILT, Confidence Man are the absolute embodiment of our universally beloved brand’s ethos; ‘feels like a different thing’.”

That partnership runs deep, through an “exclusive range” of new TILT products made in collaboration with Confidence Man, which can be viewed at tiltyourself.com.

TILT also happens to be the name of Confidence Man’s second full length album, which is due out — appropriately — on April Fool’s Day, April 1, 2022.

The forthcoming LP features the previously-released cuts ‘Holiday’ and the ‘90s-house vibrating ‘Feels Like A Different Thing,’ and it’s the followup to 2018’s Confident Music for Confident People.

Melbourne fans can catch Confidence Man for a performance this Saturday (Feb. 12) at the Forum, a warm-up before they embark on the southern summer festival circuit.

Confidence Man will take TILT on the road when they return to the U.K. and Europe for a run of live dates, kicking off May 1 at Fusion & Foundry in Sheffield, England.

I Oh You, the reigning best independent label at the 2021 ARIA Awards and an affiliate Mushroom Group, represents Confidence Man for Australia and New Zealand through a deal struck late last year.

The outfit is signed to Heavenly/PIAS for U.K., Europe and North America and with Zync/Round Hill publishing worldwide (excluding ANZ), and they’re managed by Stu McCullough’s Amplifire Music.
