Sydney’s Cat & Calmell sign global deal with tmwrk management

Cat & Calmell just debuted their first single ‘dumbshit’, and now the outfit has announced a global deal with tmwrk management.

The Sydney pop duo will be managed by Nick Palmacci and Sydney Collett of US and UK-based management company tmwrk (Diplo, Dillon Francis, Major Lazer).

‘dumbshit’ premiered on triple j this week, and is a polished and catchy effort from the pair, showing off the potential of the Cat & Calmell project.

“Cat & Calmell’s music, perspective and approach define the raw creativity of truly great artists blossoming in front of our eyes,” Palmacci said.

“We cannot wait for the world to see all that is to come! tmwrk has always prided itself on working with mavericks and these two women are no exception.

“Our entire team couldn’t be more thrilled to be here at the beginning alongside the entire global EMI and WME teams.”

Cat & Calmell previously signed a global deal with EMI Australia, and will be repped by label partners Island (US), Polydor (UK), and Universal in Canada, China and Philippines.

EMI Australia GM Mark Holland said he was sold after hearing their first demo.

“From first hearing the ‘dumbshit’ demo (with producer Alex Wildwood) I was hooked; arranged to meet Cat & Calmell the next day and worked to sign them immediately after,” Holland said.

“Their vibe and attitude are completely infectious and felt like a natural fit into the EMI Australia family. Cat & Calmell’s writing instincts are razor sharp and it’s always a blast to be in the room (or the zoom) with them.

“Thankfully on a pure musical level alone, these songs have opened a bunch of doors and built out large internationally lauded teams which is harder for a new act in purely A&R development phase… but they’re so ready.”

Cat & Calmell are repped by WME globally for live, with with Brett Murrihy & Annie Chung (Australasia), Ashley Gonzalez (Americas) and Carlos Abreu (UK/Europe).
