Broods shift to new record label globally outside ANZ

New Zealand brother and sister team Broods, who are regular visitors to Australia, have changed their record label globally.

Caleb and Georgia Nott remain with Island/Universal Music in Australia and New Zealand.

But Billboard reports that they have shifted from Capitol after two albums to Neon Gold Records/ Atlantic.

Neon Gold is a boutique New York-based label set up in 2008 by Lizzy Plapinger and Derek Davies.

Initially a singles-only label, they launched the US careers of Australia’s Gotye and NZ band The Naked & Famous, as well as Passion Pit, Ellie Goulding, Marina & The Diamonds, Icona Pop, Charli XCX, and Tove Lo.

“I’ve been a fan of Broods since day one and was lucky enough to build a relationship touring the same festival circuits with them in my own band MS MR,” said Plapinger.

“Their vision, talent, work ethic, and general ambition is deeply inspiring and we’re so honoured to be a formal support system to them in every way we can be. It feels like a natural homecoming and we couldn’t be happier.”

Davies added, “Broods have felt like family since we first met them years ago, so it feels right and wonderful to officially make it real with their signing to Neon Gold/Atlantic.”

Billboard reported that The Broods’ first two albums Evergreen and Conscious reached on #45 and #52 on the US Chart and Conscious went to #7 on the Rock Albums Chart.

They’re currently working on a third album and, as they announced on their social media channels this morning, have just teased new single Peach.
