British India’s founding guitarist Nic Wilson quits, one last hurrah on the road
Melbourne band British India’s guitarist and founding member Nic Wilson has quit the band to try different things – and will round off a final national tour with them.
He said, “British India is something we started as snotty nosed high school kid that became something much bigger and more important to people than we could have ever expected.
“The three lads in the band were the three best men at my wedding and the three best men to play a part in my life.”
However Wilson added, “But time moves on and I have other things I want to try my hand at and I am ready to see what else I can do.”
The band are currently in the studio working on their seventh album.
It’s been a year since the release of their current Forgetting The Future, which debuted at #12 on the ARIA Album Chart and led to the band signing its first worldwide licensing deal with NYC indie-label AntiFragile.
Wilson was part of the team which formed at Melbourne’s St Bede’s College in 2007.
Their debut LP Guillotine won them the AIR award for Best New Group.
Their second album Thieves was released within 12 months, debuting at #5 on the ARIA chart and scoring three ARIA nominations.
In 2010 came Avalanche – another Top 10 debut.
Signing to Liberation Records and Mushroom Music Publishing in 2012 lead to their two most successful albums to date.
Controller had an ARIA #5 debut and features the Gold-accredited I Can Make You Love Me while Nothing Touches Me is home to hits like Suddenly and Wrong Direction which have amassed over 5.5 million online streams.
