Brando lands first Australian airplay #1 with ‘Look Into My Eyes’

US singer-songwriter Brando has leapt past a swathe of global hitmakers to secure the #1 single at Australian radio this week with his release ‘Look Into My Eyes’.

He’s no stranger to an airplay hit, having achieved success on the TMN Hot 100 powered by Radio Monitor as a vocalist and songwriter for Loud Luxury’s 2018 hit ‘Body’, which made it to #2 on the chart (and remains in the chart at #43 in its 95th week).

Now Brando has gone solo through TMRW Music’s Hussle imprint, with ‘Look Into My Eyes’ knocking off Doja Cat’s ‘Say So’ to nab the #1 position in a Top 5 that also includes The Weeknd and Dua Lipa.

“We’re so proud to be leading the charge globally in breaking Brando and it’s so great to see how enthusiastically Australian radio has embraced the song,” TMRW Music’s head of A&R, Chris Fraser, tells TMN.

“He’s got so much exciting original material to come and it feels like this is only the beginning for this super talented dude.

TMRW’s director of publicity & promotions, Anna Fitzgerald, thanked the support the track has received from local radio. “Australian radio has really lead the way with this release. Shout out to The Edge 96.1 who added the song back in February,” she said.

“The track resonated with their listeners quickly, hitting #5 on Shazam Sydney, with Nova, Hit and KIIS all getting on board soon after. Thanks to all the networks for their amazing support! With Brando’s feature on Loud Luxury’s ‘Body’ still in the airplay chart after a massive 95 weeks, we look forward to ‘Look Into My Eyes’ having a similar trajectory!”

Rounding out the Top 5 is Aussie Sam Fischer, whose international hit ‘This City’ reaches a new peak.

But all eyes are on the mega-collab from Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, who combined to release ‘Rain On Me’ last week. The tune climbs seven frames to #7 in just its second week on the chart, and with a TikTok dance behind it plus two huge fanbases, will be eyeing the podium.

The highest debut on the Hot 100 this week goes to local legend Tones And I, who just cracks the Top 40 with new ur ‘Ur So cOoL’ (#39). She also has ‘Bad Child’ (up five spots to #10) and ‘Never Seen The Rain’ (#35) on the chart.
