BMG signs Adelaide writer, producer Tigerilla

BMG has signed Adelaide based writer and producer Tigerilla (Matthew Khabbaz) to a worldwide music publishing deal.

Over the last few years, Tigerilla has worked and toured with a diverse range of artists, from the likes of Mallrat, Allday and Gill Bates to Nicole Millar, KLP, REMI and Dominique Young Unique.

His songwriting and producing credits include Mallrat’s ‘For Real’, which reached Number One on Hype Machine and featured in a Google Pixel phone advertisement earlier this year.

Tigerilla’s own music project has emerged as a triple j favourite, with his video for 2016 single ‘Tulips’ receiving a nomination for a J Award.

His new single ‘Money In My Jeans’ features the vocals of Muki and showcases a hip-hop swagger and pop energy underpinned by his trademark electronic style.

This year also saw the launch of his duo, Super Cruel, a dual producer project with Sydney’s Jesse Porsches.

Their first release ‘November’, featuring the vocals of Lisa Mitchell and co-written by Amy Shark, instantly gained traction across national Australian radio and international streaming services online.

With the recent announcement of Jesse Porsches’ publishing deal with BMG, Super Cruel’s publishing is now represented by BMG, including the new single ‘Sicklaced’.

Heath Johns, BMG Australia Managing Director, said, “Matt is one of Australia’s most progressive young songwriters and his genre-defying production style makes him a perfect addition to our growing domestic roster.

“BMG is committed to breaking Australian talent on a global scale.

“We can’t wait to plug Matt into our international networks so we can further deliver on this promise”.

Tigerilla said, “It feels like the perfect time to join forces with this company.

“BMG has been kicking goals and I look forward to sharing some great success over the next few years both nationally and internationally.

“Love the team, love the dream – here’s to the next step in the journey!”.

Tigerilla joins a BMG roster of Australian talent that also includes LDRU, Peking Duk (ex. ANZ), Lance Ferguson, SAFIA, AC/DC, Wolfmother, The Living End, Meg Mac, The Easybeats, San Cisco, Drapht, Montaigne, Matt Corby, Tame Impala (ex. ANZ), Dead Letter Circus, Nicole Millar, Wave Racer and The Cat Empire.
