BMG signs Neil Finn to exclusive global publishing deal
Legendary singer-songwriter Neil Finn has signed his publishing to BMG Australia.
The NZ musician has been synonymous with legendary acts Crowded House and Split Enz, having risen to prominence with the latter alongside his brother Tim Finn in the 1970s.
The demise of Split Enz saw Finn go on to found Crowded House. He’s also a current member of Fleetwood Mac.
Finn’s new agreement with BMG will see the publisher represent his entire catalogue, including a string of international hits with Crowded House and Split Enz.
“I am excited to sign my publishing with BMG, as the people I’ve met there are genuine music enthusiasts and have an affection for my songs which I know is real,” said Finn of the deal.
“They are a dynamic and ambitious company on a creative roll themselves.”
The deal comes just months out from Crowded House embarking on their first European Tour in over a decade, following a headline set at Bluesfest Byron Bay 2020.
“Neil Finn is undeniably one of the finest songwriters of all time and the entire global team at BMG is honoured to be working with an artist of such exceptional calibre,” said BMG Australia managing director Heath Johns.
“We look forward to working alongside Neil and his team to not only further build on the legacy of his legendary catalogue but also create a new musical chapter with his incredible new songs.”
As part of Crowded House, Finn has sold 10 million albums globally, including a 6x Platinum self-titled debut album.
Finn’s solo career has seen him release four studio albums, and in 2018 released Lightsleeper recorded with his son Liam, who has toured with Fleetwood Mac.
Finn is also an Order Of The British Empire, and Crowded House were inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame in 2016.
