Blues On Broadbeach froths up own beer with Wingman alliance

Four weeks away from plugging in the amps, Blues On Broadbeach has struck a new partnership with Wingman Beer.

It will result in a limited edition Blues On Broadbeach Wingman Beer, with cans on sale at the festival, including in their pop-up bars in the festival precinct.

“We are thrilled to be announced as the official beer of Blues on Broadbeach,” said Will Chambers, general manager of Wingman Beer.

“Like most people, we have eagerly anticipated the return of live entertainment, and to celebrate Wingman Beer’s first foray into supporting the music industry, we are excited to launch a limited edition can of the Wingman 3.5% mid-strength beer, which will be available to patrons at the Wingman Bars in Kurrawa Park and Victoria Park.

“Having relocated the business from NSW to South East Queensland in mid-2020, we are keen to build partnerships and support initiatives which drive visitation to the Gold Coast, and we will be showcasing the new Blues on Broadbeach can at events in NSW in the coming weeks.”

Lisa Lees, GM of marketing and communications for Major Events Gold Coast, can see the positive step in the alliance.

“You don’t get better integration from a festival sponsor than the partnership we have with Wingman,” said.

“Not only do we have an ‘official beer’ for the 2021 festival, we also have collectable Blues on Broadbeach Wingman beer cans on sale for our festival fans who will no doubt add to their collection of Blues on Broadbeach souvenirs.”

Network 10 has come on as a partner, signing a two-year deal.

The broadcaster will promote its shows as MasterChef Australia, The Amazing Race and The Cube throughout the event, as well as its partnership with the free street festival.

As part of its involvement with Blues On Broadbeach, hospitality group The Oracle will close off its street to all vehicles to present a weekend of blues entertainment in the ‘round on Oracle Boulevard.

It forms part of the 2021 Blues on Broadbeach Dine & Watch Precinct offering, where aligned restaurants and bars have extended out so patrons can dine and drink while watching the entertainment.

The festival’s full program was confirmed this week, covering blues, roots, folk, rock, reggae and funk.

Among them are singer-songwriter and guitarist Lloyd Spiegel, with the first of two shows on Thursday 20 May from 5:00pm.

He returns next evening, along with Hammond organ proponent Lachy Doley & The Horns of Conviction, Melbourne outfit Jazz Party and blues rock guitarist Hamish Anderson.

Saturday 22 is headlined by Wolfmother from 8:45pm, after a warm-up set from 5:15pm by WA’s Southern River Band.

The festival winds up on Sunday 23, with Sydney blues guitarist and vocalist Ray Beadle on the stage at 3:30pm, followed by banjo playing C.W. Stoneking at 5:15pm, and Christine Anu delving into the Aretha Franklin Songbook from 7:00pm.
