Bloodlines GM Dean McLachlan now also CM of Mushroom Music Publishing

Dean McLachlan, general manager of the Mushroom Group’s new imprint Bloodlines, is now pulling double duty as creative manager of Mushroom Music Publishing.

In this expanded role, McLachan is charged with maintaining creative publishing relationships with many of the writers with whom he works at Bloodlines, including Mark Seymour, James Reyne, Ross Wilson, Suze DeMarchi and Ian Moss, as well as Australian writers, as Daryl Braithwaite and Shane Howard.

Longtime Mushroomer, Bill Page, will continue as creative manager for Mushroom Music Publishing on a part-time basis, working with a select number of writers including Pip Norman and Dom Mariani.

McLachlan’s appointment further strengthens head of A&R Linda Bosidis’ creative team at Mushroom Music Publishing, and reflects Mushroom Group’s strategy to bring its publishing and recording divisions closer together.

Chris Maund, COO of Mushroom Labels and Music Publishing, said, “Over 20 years Dean has cultivated amazing relationships with so many of our iconic Australian artists, writers and managers that it simply makes sense for him to work with them in both our recording and publishing divisions.

“We greatly look forward to Dean applying his trademark passion and enthusiasm to this expanded role and growing this critical part of our business”.

Mushroom Music, set up in 1973 and run by Managing Director Ian James for most of that time, is one of the Mushroom Group’s most successful divisions.

Its roster, listed on its website, includes Chet Faker, Gordi, Vance Joy, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, D.D Dumbo, The War on Drugs, Birds of Tokyo, The Preatures, Slum Sociable, DMA’s, Violent Soho, Jess Kent, Band of Horses, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and London Grammar.
