Australia’s Rachel Newman Named as New Co-Head of Apple Music

Apple Music has named two new co-heads, including Australia’s own Rachel Newman.

Per Variety, Newman is confirmed to take on the position alongside former global head of music business development of ByteDance, Ole Obermann.

Newman has worked with Apple Music for over 16 years, starting as the iTunes Australia and New Zealand manager in 2009, before taking on the position of global head of content and editorial in 2011.

Previously, she worked as a program director for the now-defunct XYZ Networks between 2006-2009, which owned Foxtel’s famous music stations including Channel [V], MAX and the Country Music Channel.

Foxtel eventually closed XYZ in 2012.

Meanwhile prior to his near-six year stint at ByteDance, Obermann spent three years at Warner Music as its chief digital officer and executive vice president, strategy & business development, and a decade at Sony Music.
