Northern Territory hailing EDM singer-songwriter and producer VASSY is back in the US dance charts with her new single ‘Trouble’.

Billboard reports the track the US-based artist’s 8th in the Dance/Mix Show Airplay (ay #40) and her 11th on Dance Club Songs (#43).

‘Trouble’ is drawing airplay on core-dance outlets, including KQPS, KNHC (C89.5) Seattle and Music Choice’s Dance/EDM channel.

Like the earlier single ‘Concrete Heart’ which crossed over into the Top 40, ‘Trouble’ has a lively pop-themed sound.

It was produced with help from with Dan Muckala (Backstreet Boys, Selena Gomez, Echosmith, Tiësto), and mixes by Dan Thomas, Leo Blanco and Manny Martinez.

Her last hardcore EDM track was ‘Faster Than A Bullet’ with Tiesto and for now she’s planning to follow her love for melodies.

VASSY says the song was deliberately written as an anthem for dance music factors, about being free-spirited and taking risks in life.

“You know that feeling when you become so fixated on that someone or that something that even if they’re no good for you, you can’t help but yearn for the trouble that they’ll bring?” she tells Billboard.

“That’s the energy I wanted to convey through the song.

“Trouble’ for me is not a weakness it is a feeling of empowerment.”

Despite being kicked out of school choir in the NT and told she didn’t have the chops, VASSY promised her father she’d finish off her architecture course before focussing on music.

After pop hits in Australia, she moved to the US and started over again, inspired by her late strong work ethic.

‘Bad’ with David Guetta and Showtek went double platinum in 2014.

A team-up with Tiesto and KSHMR in 2016 for the smash hit ‘Secrets’ saw her perform with Tiesto at Ultra Miami to an audience of 150,000.

Just 48 hour after its release, the track was #1 on Beatport and went on to generate 240 million YouTube views.

She told PopDust magazine “I’m not caught up in the lifestyle of our business, I live a private, humble, normal life.

“I just love creating and making records.

“It’s my way of expressing positive energy, to inspire people to feel good and feel motivated in life.

“I have mentored in detention centres at remote communities and schools to empower kids to believe in themselves despite bullies and rejections, as I too have experienced all this.”
