Apple Music celebrates 100 albums that changed music
Apple Music has launched a new editorial feature compiling 100 albums that changed music forever.
Titled 100 Albums that Changed Music, the spotlight aims to spotlight some of the most influential releases from Apple’s 75 million-strong catalogue, with over seven decades of music being represented.
Each album is also paired with exclusive liner notes from Apple Music editors to add context to each record and share its backstory, which can be accessed by clicking under the album artwork.
As well as featuring classic releases from the likes of Joni Mitchell, Miles Davis, The Beatles, Marvin Gaye and Kate Bush, 100 Albums that Changed Music also highlights a number of contemporary masterpieces from Billie Eilish, Kanye West and Lorde, as well as celebrating off-kilter ambient and minimal works from John Cage and Brian Eno.
A number of Australian albums are also represented, with Apple Music spotlighting releases from AB Original, AC/DC, Flume, Gurrumul, Kylie Minogue, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Paul Kelly & The Messengers, Silverchair, Tame Impala, The Avalanches, The Presets, The Saints, The Triffids and Yothu Yindi in the collection.
The Avalanches and The Presets have also shared their five most influential projects, with their picks displayed on Apple Music’s front page.
The feature comes at the tail-end of a huge week for Apple Music, with the streaming service also introducing Lossless Audio and Spatial Audio features as well as a record label exploration feature.
