Amy Shark lands highest airplay debut of any Aussie in 2020

Amy Shark has landed the highest debut of the week with ‘Everybody Rise’ breaking into the TMN Hot 100 powered by Radio Monitor at #16.

The impressive return from Shark is also the highest debut for any Australian on the chart so far in 2020, and the fifth-highest among all acts so far this year.

Only Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande’s powerhouse tune ‘Rain On Me’ (#14), Grande’s team up with Justin Beiber for ‘Stuck With U’ (#15) and Gaga’s #10 debut with ‘Stupid Love’, and Bieber’s solo track ‘Yummy’ (#12) charted higher in their debut week.

‘Everybody Rise’ is Shark’s first new music since she released her 2018 debut album LOVE MONSTER and 2019 ARIA Platinum single ‘Mess Her Up’.

“This single is me properly hitting my stride,” she affirms. “The next chapter will define me even more than LOVE MONSTER did.”

There were also debuts this week for Beyoncé who dropped her new single ‘BLACK PARADE’ (#56) mid-week, while Aussie indie act Spacey Jane bows at #66.

Another homegrown powerhouse, Ricki-Lee, jumped 50 frames this week. Her new banger ‘Last Night’ moved from #84 to #34 in its second week on the Hot 100.

There was little movement around the top of the Hot 100 this week, as Brando racked up a fourth week at #1 with ‘Look Into My Eyes’. It’s now the second longest-serving #1 of the year after The Weekend’s ‘Blinding Lights’.

There’s a new peak for ‘Breaking Me’, a pop anthem by German producer Topic, featuring Swedish singer A7S, which climbs four frames to #2 this week.

Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande and Sam Fischer round out the Top 5.
