AMPAL Appoints Kylie Martin as Communications & Development Officer

Kylie Martin joins the Australasian Music Publishers’ Association Limited in the newly-created position of communications & development officer, with immediate effect.

A veteran PR specialist and director of Martini Media, Martin will drive AMPAL’s activities across communications, events, sponsorships and more.

Martin joins the trade body with a CV stacked with 30 years’ experience in publicity, brand strategy and stakeholder engagement.

Launching Martini Media in 2010, Martin has worked with the likes of Kylie Minogue, Emma Watkins and enjoyed a decade at the ARIA Awards, roles that position her “perfectly to drive AMPAL’s efforts in elevating the music publishing sector,” says AMPAL CEO Damian Rinaldi, in a message to industry.

This new consultancy position, announced Thursday, March 20th, was made possible through Music Australia’s Core Contribution Funding scheme.

“We feel incredibly fortunate to have someone of Kylie’s remarkable pedigree ready to energise AMPAL,” adds Rinaldi in a statement. “Many in the Australasian music community will have seen Kylie’s extraordinary work ethic during her label years with EMI/Virgin, Festival
Mushroom, and Warner Music, and we look forward to Kylie now having the same impact for the music publishing industry.”

The opportunity to “join the superstars in the music publishing arena has finally become a reality with the planets aligning to join the small but mighty team at AMPAL,” comments Martin. “Huge thanks to the legends at Music Australia for making this dream role a reality.”

AMPAL was formed in 1956 and today boasts more than 50 music publisher members, collectively representing north of 90% of the economic value of the music publishing sector.

Rinaldi took the reigns at the music publishers’ trade association with effect from July 1, 2024 succeeding Matthew O’Sullivan, formerly general manager. His appointment followed Clive Hodson’s election as chair of AMPAL and Australasia and Asia global regional board of ICMP, and the election of Karen Hamilton (120 Publishing) as deputy chair of AMPAL.
