The American Association of Independent Music is calling on its members to jump on board the inaugural A2IM Indie Week Australian Edition, hosted by AIR later this year.

In a statement from its New York headquarters, A2IM has briefed its 600-plus members on early-bird tickets for the first mission Down Under, hosted at the annual 2025 Indie-Con. This year’s Indie-Con is set for July 30th-August 1st at Adelaide’s Mercury Cinema.

By presenting Indie Week in Australia, A2IM will take its flagship conference beyond the US for the first time – a “historic event,” reads a statement from the trade body.

Supported by the South Australian Government, Indie Week Australia will unite global independent music leaders to drive innovation, foster collaboration, and shape the industry’s future, reads a statement from AIR.

The established US event is an international conference and networking event aimed at maximising the global impact of independent music.

The 17th annual Indie Week returns to New York City, June 10th-12th, with a schedule including over 60 panels, interactive workshops, and, in celebration of A2IM’s 20th anniversary, new initiatives and special programming.

Once again, Indie-Con will bookend the 2025 AIR Awards, which will be held on Thursday, July 31st at the Adelaide Town Hall.

This year’s ceremony will include, for the first time, the category for Independent Mix, Studio or Mastering Engineer of the Year, which recognises the efforts of an Australian-based mix, studio or mastering engineer who worked on a member single, EP or Album released during the eligibility period.

AIR’s members are offered an early bird rate at $249 (RRP $349). Non members can secure an early bird ticket for $349 (RRP $399).

International panelists and delegates at Indie-Con 2024 included Dona Inthaxoum (Head of International Music Label Partnerships at Meta), Ellie Rumbold (Partisan Records), Emmy Feldman (Head of US A&R at OTM), Marcus Rowland (Outdustry China), UK booking agent Stuart Kennedy (ATC Live), Jim Romeo (Ground Control Touring), plus local artists PNAU and Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy, producer).
