Copyright Agency CEO Murray St Leger resigns

Copyright Agency announced today that CEO Murray St Leger would be leaving the company in July 2015. Mr St Leger is moving back to the United Kingdom for family reasons.

Murray St Leger is a former Managing Director of McGraw-Hill Australia, and was President of the Australian Publishers Association in 2009/10.

The Chairman of Copyright Agency, Sandy Grant, expressed his gratitude to Murray for his leadership as CEO and Deputy CEO since 2013.

“Murray brought a depth of understanding of the Australian publishing industry and his leadership has been innovative and highly professional. He has successfully developed and driven a high performance culture and his legacy will be felt for years to come as new projects are rolled out.

“Murray played a major role in building a global first for education publishing, LearningField – www.learningfield.com.au – an Australia innovation that delivers curriculum-linked, digital textbooks direct to students’ and teachers’ devices.”

“He has also been instrumental in the development of Reading Australia – www.readingaustralia.com.au – a hub of resources, written by teachers for teachers, to bring Australian stories to life in the classroom.”

Sandy Grant said the Board would now commence a recruitment process for a new Chief Executive Officer. “We will be looking for a CEO who can continue the fine work of the agency in standing up for the value of Australian creators, develop a suite of innovative knowledge products and grow a customer-focused culture.”

Murray St Leger says, “It’s been a privilege to work with such professional and dedicated staff, as well as both the Copyright Agency and Viscopy Boards. I look forward to aiding the transition of the new CEO in the coming months.”
