Coldplay conquer Most Added with genre-crossing ‘Orphans’
Coldplay’s 2019 return – and the first single from their forthcoming eighth studio album – has smashed all genres and formats to be this week’s Most Added To Radio.
The result comes as little surprise, with a pedigree at Australian radio that’s seen the British band secure five #1s in the last 15 years on the TMN Hot 100 Airplay Chart powered by Radio Monitor, since ‘Speed Of Sound’ first summited the chart in 2005.
Chris Martin and co. didn’t have it all their way, with Selena Gomez’ new cut ‘Lose You To Love Me’ and Lizzo’s remix of ‘Good As Hell’ featuring Ariana Grande going toe-to-toe with Coldplay for a good portion of the week.
All three tracks were added nationally to the Hit Network, and gained support from Grant Broadcasters and the ACE Radio Network. Nova got behind Lizzo & Ari with an ATB add and Coles Radio playlisted Gomez.
Coldplay matched each of these achievements, but the writing was on the wall when ‘Orphans’ was added widely across Triple M’s metro and regional networks. ‘Orphans’ was also the highest debut of the week on the TMN Hot 100, bowing at #14 on this week’s chart.
Dermot Kennedy’s new release ‘Outnumbered’ makes the Top 5 this week, while Jessica Mauboy’s new single ‘Selfish’ is fifth most added for the second consecutive week.
