5SOS co-managers to receive UK industry award
Sydney band 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS)’s London-based co-managers Richard Griffiths and Harry Magee are set to receive a prestigious UK award.
The duo will be given the 2019 Music Industry Trusts Award at a ceremony in London for their success and high standards in music management over 40 years.
Through their company Modest Management, Griffiths and Magee steered 5SOS (with co-manager Matt Emsell) to total album sales of 7 million and 1 million concert tickets around the world.
Their biggest success has been The X Factor alumni One Direction who sold 75 million albums.
They still look after the band’s Niall Horan.
Other clients include Little Mix, Alison Moyet, Olly Murs, classical singer Katherine Jenkins and, in partnership with Simon Fuller’s XIX Entertainment, the Spice Girls.
The two have also worked on two other Australian acts.
Before forming Modest Management in 2003, Griffiths was the first international agent for AC/DC.
As managing director of RCA Records in the UK in the late ‘90s, Macgee oversaw the recording career of Natalie Imbruglia, along with Westlife, Five, Natalie Imbruglia, Foo Fighters and Eurythmics.
