2021 TMN Tinnies winners revealed
Cue the drum roll, it’s time to unveil winners in the 2021 TMN Tinnies.
From a list of over 50 incredible finalists across 15 categories, and spanning all sectors of the Australian music ecosystem, are the businesses that have pushed through 2021 with gusto.
Among the winners are EMI Music for Record label of the year, GYROstream for Music distributor of the year, The Annex for Music marketing biz of the year and Andrew Klippel collected the Artist development award for his work with Genesis Owusu.
The winner of the inaugural Music Biz Leader of the Year award has also been revealed, with APRA AMCOS executive Leah Flanagan chosen by the judging panel.
Flanagan was born and raised on Larrakia land and is of Alyawarre descent.
She is a singer-songwriter and arts manager, as well as the director of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Music Office (NATSIMO) set up by the Australasian music rights organisation, and First Nations music producer for Australia’s music export organisation, Sounds Australia.
The Music Network’s publisher, Jake Challenor, commended everyone involved this year, after another challenging 12 months for the industry.
“Congratulations to all the winners in the 2021 TMN Tinnies, and those behind the scenes in these organisations who have proved that passion, persistence and innovation can get you through a pandemic. Thank you to everyone who entered in 2021, including all the finalists,” he said.
“It is also an honour to name the first winner of the new Music Biz Leader of the Year award in Leah Flanagan, who since her appointment to NATSIMO in 2019 has worked tirelessly to promote the interests of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander music creators and to advocate on behalf of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander creative communities.”
The 2021 TMN Tinnies have been made possible by support from Humm Events, iHeartRadio Australia, Ingrooves, TikTok and Vevo.
Winning entries will be profiled on TMN in the weeks ahead.
